How to Read the Bible & Understand Prophecy
Lesson #12: Bible Prophecies Still to Come
It’s not always easy to identify what prophecies have passed and exactly which ones are still yet to come. There is so much covering up and deception in the world that it’s hard to know what to believe. When you think about it, we really don’t know without a doubt how much time has passed since the book of Revelation was written. Most of the early calendars created by man make little logical sense to the average person or have been changed numerous times throughout history. The only thing we know for sure is what we have seen with our own two eyes and what is written in the Bible.
According to the Bible, the world is going to go through a period of great moral decline. Anyone who turns on their TV or reads the news online can see that things are making a sharp turn for the worse. We know that before things get better, certain prophecies must be fulfilled.
Read Isaiah 60:2 KJV

It is clear from the passages given, that the kingdom of heaven, New Jerusalem, will be established here on this earth in the future. Some people argue that the texts above should not be taken literally, while others place them in an even more distant time period. However, a prophecy found in the book of Daniel, not only proves that the kingdom is indeed a literal kingdom, but it also shows that we are now within reach of seeing the prophecy come to pass…

Whether the kingdom will literally come down out of heaven or be assembled here on Earth, are details to ponder. In any event, this prophecy concerning the very end supports the fact that people outside of the one hundred and forty-four thousand saints will not be leaving this Earth; instead, the kingdom will come down to us…

As mentioned before, we don’t know when Christ will return with the kingdom, but we do know that things here on Earth will be in a state of great moral decline; just like it was in Sodom and Gomorrah and in the days of Noah. Very dark days will come upon the Earth, but the people of God need not worry. The Lord has promised our safety as we make our way to the holy city and enter in through the pearly gates…

In fact, the bible reveals that all believers will be changed. It is written that in order for mankind to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, we must become immortal. As mentioned in a previous chapter, during the time of the final judgment, there will be a second resurrection (see chapter 10). At that time, those who have passed away, those who are living at the time of His final return, and those who are spending time in Hell, will stand before the Lord and the saints. Everyone will have to give an account of their life and will have a chance to repent. Their works (not works in the law), but their actions will testify for them…

Keep in mind, Satan is in the world, trying to deceive whom he can. So, it is possible that he will try to set up a counterfeit kingdom before the true kingdom comes. Even today, I’ve heard talk of the construction of a 3rd temple in Jerusalem that will conduct ceremonies and sacrifices, which will undermine the fact that Jesus was the Lamb of God and has already died for the sins of the world.
In any event, after all people have been judged, and all those who are found worthy make it safely into the holy city; Satan will be furious. He and his army will attack the city and will fight against the Lord’s army…
